Grew Up Too Soon: Part II

432af-sadness

II.

The worst sin one can commit
is to know of the crimes
but to turn a blind eye,
leaving her children alone
to recapture her youth,
thinking random men
can act as substitutes
for the love that they needed from her
for the protection that they seeked from her.

Was the light bulb in her head dimmed
or just plain blacked out?

Were her senses dulled
and her emotions lulled?

How could she not know that her actions were not right
leaving her daughters around strange men
night after night?
