Grew Up Too Soon: Parts V and VI

432af-sadness

V.

Panties missing;
Dresses soiled;
Souls of daughters distant
trying to push the shame away;
she carries on
like everything’s the same;
then one day, she returns
to find her gone:
fleeing for safety,
fleeing for a place
to truly call home,
telling others about the things
she couldn’t say to her mom;
her mom’s answer–the unthinkable:
“Those are lies; that’s not true!”

VI.

She has let sticks destroy
mother/daughter bonds
extremely quick
eyes once filled with love for her
are black with disgust
because she makes them sick;
oh, one almost forgot to mention
that she lost one to the system
because of her denial
and now the same stuff’s happening
to her twelve year old child.
