Cerebral Marinade

Disclaimer:  The tales of some but not all…

Women have been conditioned to expect imperfection
And respond by granting acceptance.
Men have been conditioned to seek superficial perfection
And respond by showing no tolerance.

Is that why despite a man’s looks, status or weight,
She says, “I love you anyway.”
But if a woman becomes older, poorer, or fatter,
He says, “Sorry, but I just can’t say.”

Who was the mofo who set these rules
In consistent opposition?
Why are we attempting to follow these rules?
Didn’t they even once raise suspicion?

Why are we so quick to blame God
When relationships we get in fail?
Impatient humans will always make mistakes,
But patient ones who trust His judgment will prevail.

I pray that men and women alike
Wipe away expectation based on the superficial,
And come to learn the traits that really count–
The blossoming of love that’s unconditional.
