Learn to Share (Poetry Freestyle)

Hello everyone!

April is National Poetry Month.  What I’m going to do is share a poem a day.  Most of them will be freestyles–meaning I just write what’s on the top of my head at that very moment.

Today, I was thinking about how poetry might be feeling since my embarking into short story writing and this is what I came up with.  Enjoy!

Learn to Share

At times you may surmise
That I’m through with you,
But I could never let go of completely
Something that’s always been a part of me.
You provided the voice
I couldn’t discover myself.
Assassinating you would be equivalent
To disassembling myself!

Keep your jealousy at bay!
This other muse’s been dormant for years;
Now it’s time for Her to play.
You’re just going to have to get over
Not being a “o-k”
Because this current has no deterrent:
It just flows whichever way.

I love you–
Just be patient and you will see!
I’ve come a long way, Sweetheart.
I’ve evolved from the “all or nothing” ruse.
Who knows?  Maybe we will all be much greater
With creativity times two.
