Desert (Poetry Freestyle)

I come in from a rough day:
Dealing with a job that has long hours
And even lousier pay.
I put in applications on the regular,
But the phrase “overqualified”
Is the new “we’re not hiring you”.
All different backgrounds
Scrounging for crumbs:
The jobs no one years ago wanted
In the first damn place.
It’s hard to smile
And keep your head held high
When crooks and dumb people
Are succeeding and getting by.
If I say anything
I’m classified as bitter,
Am told education is the key
To being a winner.
What do you say to people
That listened to those voices
But can’t find vocations
Reflective of those choices?
Things just don’t seem the same:
Young and old all feeling the pain.
It is all pointing to once conclusion–

Somebody seriously got gamed!
